Welcome to the Science of Becoming Institute website (the "Site"), operated by Dr. Karla Hylton Dixon. By accessing or using this Site, including any coaching services, keynotes, workshops, corporate programs, courses, the Emergence Sanctuary™ app, books, downloads, articles, videos, or other resources (collectively, the "Services"), you agree to the following Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use this Site or the Services.

1. Use of the Site
You must be at least 18 years old to use this Site, or have the permission of a parent or legal guardian if under 18. You agree to use this Site only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of, restrict, or inhibit any other person's use of the Site.

2. Coaching, Educational, and Organizational Services
The Science of Becoming Institute offers coaching, educational, and organizational development services, including keynotes, workshops, and programs for individuals and organizations, grounded in personal development, nervous-system regulation, and applied biology. These Services:

  • Are not a substitute for therapy, counseling, or medical treatment.

  • Do not constitute professional medical, psychological, or psychiatric advice.

  • Are for informational, educational, and developmental purposes only.

You agree to consult a licensed physician or mental health professional if you are facing a medical condition or mental health concern. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or having thoughts of suicide, please call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room. Neither Dr. Karla Hylton Dixon nor the Science of Becoming Institute provides emergency or crisis intervention services.

3. The Emergence Sanctuary™ App and Digital Subscriptions
The Emergence Sanctuary™ is a digital companion application offered on a subscription basis, which may include an initial free trial period as described at the time of signup.

  • If a free trial is offered, your payment method will be automatically charged when the trial period ends, unless you cancel before the trial ends.

  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current rate unless canceled prior to the renewal date.

  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting karla@khylton.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

  • Access depends on maintaining an active subscription and a functioning internet connection. The app is provided "as is" and "as available," and we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

4. Payment and Refunds
All prices are listed in USD and are subject to change. Payment for coaching sessions, courses, keynotes, workshops, corporate programs, or other Services must be made in advance unless otherwise agreed in a signed engagement agreement.

  • Digital products (courses, workbooks, app subscriptions, downloads, etc.) are non-refundable except where required by law.

  • Individual coaching sessions may be rescheduled with at least 24 hours' notice; refunds are not guaranteed.

  • Corporate keynote, workshop, and program bookings are governed by the specific terms of the signed engagement agreement or invoice for that booking, including any deposit, cancellation, and rescheduling terms stated there.

5. Intellectual Property
All content on this Site, including text, graphics, logos, videos, downloads, course materials, and the book The Science of Becoming, is the property of Dr. Karla Hylton Dixon and the Science of Becoming Institute and is protected by copyright and trademark law, including the trademarks Women Who Emerge™, The Art of Emergence™, The Science of Becoming™, and The Emergence Sanctuary™. You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute content without express written permission.

  • Share course, program, or app logins, or distribute materials to others.

  • Use any content, framework, or trademark for commercial purposes without prior written consent.

6. Testimonials and Results
Testimonials shared on the Site represent real experiences, but individual results vary. The Science of Becoming Institute does not guarantee specific outcomes from coaching, courses, workshops, programs, or app use.

7. Privacy
Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Site, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described there.

8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Science of Becoming Institute and Dr. Karla Hylton Dixon are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this Site or the Services. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of data, revenue, business interruption, or emotional distress, and any interruption, delay, or unavailability of the Emergence Sanctuary™ app or other digital Services.

9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site or Services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be resolved in the appropriate state or federal courts located in Georgia.
